Short answer, each were initiatives of a parent company, now known as Ambitious Diva and have been absorbed into components of newly developing events. Natural Hair Parade, preceding and unaffiliated with Isis Brantley’s World Natural Hair Parade, was an initiative and service to the curly hair community by making available to undeserved areas including Los Angeles, New Orleans, Brooklyn and Oakland product lines that hadn’t initially been available there. With it’s Change.org campaign, NHP created a voice to help big retailers hear a communities need for products formulated and marketed for and to them. However, following the 2012 Love & Beauty Unconference, it was clear that a larger, more impactful approach of supporting women’s self-love went beyond teaching about hair care, into teaching women how to build sustainable businesses, care for self, and work toward building a solid community of women supporting each other in this area.
Ambitious Diva Hair replaced the online Natural Hair Parade Facebook group. The Love & Beauty Unconference and Natural Hair Parade Facebook pages have been deleted, leaving Ambitious Diva Company page full of content about business, beauty, fashion, women’s empowerment and more prevalent, content on business and marketing strategy tips and event announcements. The former Twitter handles for both @paradeevents and @loveandbeautyun have also been deleted leaving content available at @amdivacompany and on founder, Jasmine Powers personal Twitter account, @jasminepowers.
All Love & Beauty Unconference and Natural Hair Parade content lives within this website and it live for reading.
